IDS (IGNITION DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM)

Windows tablet* with Ignition Development System, Edge Card Programmer (ECP) and CD-L Series Ignitions

* OTG adapter required for some tablets

The IDS (Ignition Development System) utilizes a patented optical counting system with the ability to place up to three separate sparks at different crank angles to create a highly stable adjustable multi-spark ignition system.  A variety of engines from 1-8 cylinders with or without a distributor can be programmed into the ignition module (patented).  The intuitive and powerful IDS program is used to develop timing maps for various engines and works with all IDS Ignitions.  Timing maps which comply with EPA, CARB or other emissions standards can be easily and rapidly implemented. Click here for a step by step guide of how to develop an ignition for your application.  Power Arc IDS is a software/hardware based ignition development system which can be used to create custom ignition systems for 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines. The system uses a precision optical pickup and a stainless steel encoder wheel. The encoder wheel may be used for all engine types and can be mounted on the crankshaft or the camshaft. A wide variety of tachometers may be used 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 cylinder tachometers can be used regardless of the engine type the ignition is configured for.  High voltage distribution can be done by a distributor cap or it can be distributor-less (coil based).  There are configurable input sensors.  Each sensor state creates a separate adjustable ignition timing map and is graphically displayed.  Each sensor state can have a unique Rev. Limit.  Ignition timing maps can be copied and pasted between sensor states. There can be up to 3 sparks per compression stroke.  Each spark's timing can be independently adjusted by dragging points on the graph. The coils saturation or the time the coil primary is energized can also be controlled. Ignition timing maps can be directly downloaded from the computer into the ignition module.

Power Arc IDS CD#-LM Series ignitions are available in 2 different models and are designed to fit on 1-8 cylinder engines. There is no external module.  Adapter plates allow ignition to fit to almost any engine.  Adapter stems can be used to fit in distributor based systems.

CD#-LM Series ignitions are available in two different models the CD2-LM & CD4-LM.  Mounting adapters are available for many engine/vehicle types.  New adapters can easily be manufactured.

All versions are available in models that can be directly programmed with the ECP adapter cable.  All ignitions are pre-programmed at the factory to a timing map that the customer specifies at purchase and corresponds to a specific engine or vehicle type.

IDS Features

Encoder disk mounts on either cam or crank shaft and can rotate clockwise or counter clockwise

High voltage distribution can be done by a distributor cap or it can be distributor-less (coil based)

There are configurable input sensors that can be either analog or digital

Each sensor state creates a separate adjustable ignition timing map and is graphically displayed

Ignition timing maps can be copied and pasted between sensor states

Multi-spark operation with up to three individually adjustable sparks per compression stroke
