Programming Accessories

The Program Link Cable (PLC) is used to program IDS ignitions.

The Pin bed Programmer is used to program the IDS C-1 and C-2 ignitions that do not have program connectors.


 

The IDS (Ignition Development  System) utilizes the patented optical counting system with the ability to place up to three separate sparks at different crank angles to create a highly stable adjustable multi-spark ignition system.  A variety of engines from 1-8 cylinders with or without a distributor can be programmed into the ignition module (patented). The IDS program has been updated and has numerous new features.  The intuitive and powerful IDS program is used to develop curves for various engines and works with all IDS Ignitions. IDS C-1, C-2 & CP-2 ignitions work with 1-8 cylinder engines with a distributor cap or 1-4 cylinder engines (C-2 & CP-2) without a distributor cap. The IDS VP-4 ignition works with 2-8 cylinder engines and features interchangeable stems, allowing for its use on a large variety of engines which accept distributors. Curves developed with the VP-2, VP-4, or CP-2 ignitions can be programmed into the C-1 or C-2 ignitions with a pin bed programmer.

IDS Features

● Works on 1-8 cylinder engines with distributor based high voltage distribution or with 1-8 cylinder engines with coil based distribution (VP-4).

● Optical sensors used for extreme spark stability (patented).

● Multi-spark operation with up to three separate sparks per compression stroke which can be individually timed (patented).

● Coil saturation (On/Off time) can be set to different values at different engine RPM's.

● LED static timing indicator.

● Two separate sensor inputs which can be configured as analog or digital inputs allowing for four separate advance curves.

● Adjustable Rev. Limit can be a different value in all four sensor states.

● Tachometer output can be adjusted to work on almost any tachometer regardless of what engine it was designed for.

● The number of engine starts is recorded.

● The number of times an engine exceeds a maximum user determined RPM is recorded.

● The Rev. limit value can be programmed independently from the rest of the curve (Curve file is not required).

● Automatic coil shut off.

● Precision stainless steel encoder wheel/rotor can be mounted on either cam or crank shaft.

● Custom sizes can be ordered (C-1, C-2 & CP-2).  Custom Stems can be developed for VP-2 & VP-4 ignitions.
